While the London Metal Exchange (LME) is still affected by this year's nickel market crisis, its American competitors are making progress. Previously, Chicago Merchants had successful copper and precious metal futures contracts, but never successfully challenged the dominant position of LME in other industrial metal fields. However, in this year, the aluminum and cobalt contracts of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange showed strong growth. Since the beginning of 2022, the position of aluminum futures contracts of the Chicago Board of Commerce has increased by more than 400%, while the position of cobalt contracts has increased by more than 500%.
